Fun Fair Trade Shabbat Activities

Synagogues around the country celebrate Fair Trade Shabbat in a variety of ways.  Here are some ideas to inspire you:

• Many rabbis gave a D’var Torah/sermon related to Parshat Ha Shavuah
• Several organized study sessions: Jewish values and fair trade principles, how to read “fair trade” labels
• Organizing a Kiddush featuring fair trade certified products and signage
• Two congregations had their teens make presentations and prepare a fair trade Kiddush luncheon
• Many congregation threw fair trade chocolate minis to celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah
• One congregation had a fair trade chocolate tasting at kiddush
• Showing fair trade made Judaica products and telling artisan stories
