Why People Choose Fair Trade

We are happy to share stories from people who have felt the personal impact of adding fair trade to their Jewish lives. We hope you’ll be as inspired as we have! If you have a story to share, please let us know.

Enhancing My Spiritual Life Through Fair Trade Judaica

Bill Rosenfeld in his Fair Trade Tallis“It has been a central tenet of the many decades of my life since middle school and high school to support working people and the poor in their arduous and often tedious efforts to achieve an income solidly beyond mere sustenance… to ensure not only that they are treated justly but also with dignity and concern for their well-being and those dependent upon them.

I learned of Fair Trade Judaica last year, and about the products featured on their website, which, for the first time, gave true religious meaning to the belief system I bring to Judaism and daily life.

I have, for the past two years, worn my Mayan-made tallis and kippah to religious services with pride and fervor and shall continue to do so.”

Fair Trade Basket makes Bar Mitzvah Meaningful

“I just received 10 of these (fair trade) baskets in which I put one potted bamboo plant and surrounded them with fruit for meaningful centerpieces at my son’s bar mitzvah luncheon. After the celebration the fruit will go to the local soup kitchen and the bamboo and baskets will be used by guests.

No wasted cut flowers. But a ceremony and celebration that helps the world.

My son and I knew that we wanted meaning in everything we did for his bar mitzvah. What we didn’t expect was how incredibly stunning these basekets are. They are gorgeous! Thank you.”
