Dunitz & Co., Inc.
Dunitz & Company Founder/Owner Nancy Dunitz first formed Dunitz & Company in 1989 to follow a lifelong dream — to design jewelry and beautiful things for the home made in the third world countries she liked to visit. “I started with Guatemala because it was only six versus 36 hours away,” laughs Nancy. “And, I felt it was important to learn the intricacies of product distribution before venturing into the Asian market. But once I spent time in Guatemala – building my product line and meeting the friends and designers I now consider my ‘second family’- I found I didn’t need or want to go anywhere else.”
Of special note, each piece of beadwork is handcrafted in Guatemala by talented Mayan Indian women and primarily made from Czechoslovakian and Japanese glass beads.
Dunitz & Company supports and contributes to a few organization that help those living in the community where our beadwork is crafted. “Pueblo a Pueblo”, a community based charity funds many grass root projects including child education and lunch programs as well as mother-infant care. “Hospitalito Atitlan” is the only hospital that cares for those living in the community in which Dunitz works. “Puerta Abierta” is a free library that also offers reading classes.
Dunitz & Co. is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
Their Judaica products include a variety of women’s crocheted and beaded kippahs, as well as matching beaded necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and hair clips. They have also just designed new indoor mezzuzot.
Dunitz & Co., wholesales its products to Judaica and fair trade retailers. Fair Trade Judaica serves as their wholesale representative within the Jewish community; please contact us if you would like to place an order.
