NEW Jewish Fair Trade Partnership
with Equal Exchange and T'ruah

The Jewish Fair Trade Project LogoWe are proud to announce the launch of the Jewish Fair Trade Project, a partnership of Fair Trade Judaica, T'ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, and Equal Exchange. When institutions or individuals purchase fair trade products through the Jewish Fair Trade Project, a portion of the proceeds will support Fair Trade Judaica's and T'ruah's work engaging the Jewish community in ending modern-day slavery and protecting workers' rights. Organizations can purchase these products at wholesale prices for their use, as well as for fundraising opportunities.

Sweeten Your Rosh Hashanah with
Kosher Fair Trade Honey

Rosh Hashanah is not complete until we lick the honey off our apple slices, and start our new year with pure sweetness! This isn't the situation for most beekeepers in Latin America and Asia, where they are dependent on local middlemen to buy their honey. Fair Trade certification assures the beekeepers of a mutually agreed upon minimum price. Here are some Kosher certified Fair Trade honey choices:
GloryBee Fair Trade Raw HoneyGloryBee produces a variety of OU Kosher Pareve certified Fair Trade organic honey product – 12 oz. Honey Bear, a variety of HoneyStix, and jars of Raw Honey (the raw honey jars will be back in stock by 8/15). You can buy them on-line or find a local store that carries them.
Organic Raw HoneyTrader Joes’ Organic Raw Honey also comes from bee-keeping cooperatives in Mexico, and is simply the uncooked “unadulterated nectar” of jungle wildflowers. It has Circle K (OK) Kosher certification and is available in all their stores.
Wholesome Sweetner’s HoneyWholesome Sweetener’s Organic Raw and Amber honeys, certified kosher by the Orthodox Union, come from Fair Trade cooperatives in Mexico, so the farmers also receive a “sweet” and fair wage. You can now purchase their products online, or to find a store near you, go to their website.

Fair Trade Chanukah Gelt

Guilt-free GeltWe are excited to let you know that Divine Chocolate gelt now has OU Kosher certification – Shehechiyanu! Fair Trade Judaica is partnering again with Divine Chocolate and T'ruah - for every purchase of delicious milk or dark chocolate Chanukah gelt YOU buy (wholesale and retail), Divine Chocolate will donate 10% of sales to support our educational efforts to end modern day slavery in the cocoa fields. We'll have all the ordering details for you in early October (additional summer shipping rates are in effect through September). They have made a lot more gelt this year, so no worries of running out!

Natural Dye Weaving Kit

Guilt-free Gelt
We are so excited to share this exciting new project and product: Friendship Towels with Tintes Naturales Weaving Kit! It's been a labor of love by a group of volunteers who have worked with a group of Mayan Hands fair trade weavers in San Rafael, Guatemala, who learned how to use local plants for natural dyes. It includes threads to make four gorgeous, naturally dyed cotton towels in shades of cochineal, indigo, osage orange, madder and overdye of osage orange with indigo.

Decorate Your Sukkah with Jewish banners!
