Take the Fair Trade Coffee Pledge

We pledge to make sure that every cup of coffee we serve helps lift up the women and men who helped produce it. By pledging to only purchase Fair Trade coffee, we are ensuring that the people who grow and harvest our coffee are given fair wages and human rights, and we are living up to our Jewish values.

As Jewish communities, we know that treating workers fairly is not a good deed — it is an imperative. As it is written, “You shall not abuse a needy or destitute laborer, whether a fellow countryman or a stranger in one of the communities of your land. You must pay his wages on the same day, before the sun sets, for his needs and his life depend on it” (Deuteronomy 24:14-15). By buying Fair Trade, we are ensuring that we live up to this mandate.
